Why Does My Vaporesso Taste Burnt?

The same cause as any burnt vape, dry cotton or a degraded coil

Vaporesso devices use the same cotton-wick coil system as all vape devices

Vaporesso devices, whether the XROS series, the XTRA, the Target series or any other model, use the same fundamental coil and wick system as all vaping devices. A burnt taste from a Vaporesso device is caused by either: dry cotton that has not been properly saturated before first use (a priming issue), a coil that has reached the end of its natural lifespan, or running the device below the minimum liquid level. The brand does not change the diagnosis, but Vaporesso's specific coil and pod types have slightly different priming approaches worth knowing.

By device type

Vaporesso Device-Specific Burnt Taste Causes and Fixes

XROS SERIES

Vaporesso XROS: Pod Priming

The XROS uses a cartridge pod with a built-in coil. When fitting a new cartridge, fill it with liquid through the fill port, close the port and wait ten minutes before vaping. The XROS's mesh coil is efficient but requires full cotton saturation. Do not take a draw immediately after filling, the wait period is essential. If your XROS tastes burnt after the wait, ensure the pod is properly clicked into the device and not allowing air into the draw channel.

GTX COILS

GTX Coil Range: Used Across Multiple Vaporesso Devices

The GTX coil range is used in devices including the Target series and several pod mods. GTX coils have side wicking ports that should be dripped with liquid before installation, two to three drops per port, followed by filling the tank and waiting five to ten minutes. GTX mesh coils at 0.2 and 0.3 ohm are sub-ohm coils and operate at higher wattages. If you are running them below the minimum recommended wattage, they may not produce enough heat to properly vaporise the liquid, causing a muted or slightly unpleasant flavour rather than a true burnt taste.

XTRA

Vaporesso XTRA: Compact Pod Priming

The XTRA is a compact MTL pod device. Its pods should be filled and rested for at least five minutes before the first draw. The XTRA's tight MTL draw makes it well suited to nicotine salt liquids like Bar Drop. If the XTRA tastes burnt on a new pod, the pod was not given sufficient saturation time before use.

END OF COIL

Recognising a Coil at End of Life

If the burnt taste appears gradually after days or weeks of use, rather than immediately on a new coil, the coil is likely reaching the end of its lifespan. Vaporesso coils typically last one to three weeks depending on use frequency and liquid type. Sweet liquids accelerate degradation. When the taste begins to go slightly off, order a replacement coil rather than waiting until it becomes strongly burnt.
