How long a prefilled pod system lasts depends on two things: how long each pod lasts and how long the device battery and body last. Here is a clear guide to realistic lifespan expectations for both.
When people ask how long a prefilled pod system lasts, they are usually asking one of two different questions: how long does each individual pod last before it runs out, or how long does the rechargeable device itself last before it needs replacing. These have very different answers. A pod containing 2ml of liquid typically lasts one to two days for most users. The rechargeable device body, with proper care, can last six months to a year or more across hundreds of pod changes.
A standard BM6000 pod holds 2ml of nicotine salt liquid. For a typical user, someone who was previously smoking 15 to 20 cigarettes a day and has switched to the BM6000 as a direct replacement, a pod typically lasts one to two days. Heavier former smokers may use one pod per day. Lighter users may get two to three days from a pod. Usage is the primary variable: each puff consumes a small amount of liquid, and higher frequency means faster depletion.
The signs that a BM6000 pod is depleted are: reduced vapour production (noticeably less vapour per draw), a slight change in flavour character (the flavour intensity reduces), and in some cases a mild throat dryness from the near-empty pod drawing in air. The device LED may also indicate a pod issue. When these signs appear, replace the pod. Running a pod entirely dry can cause a brief burnt taste from the exposed coil.
The BM6000's rechargeable battery is a lithium-ion cell that degrades gradually with each charge cycle. Quality pod devices support approximately 300 to 500 full charge cycles before battery capacity begins to decline noticeably. For typical users who charge daily, this equates to one to one-and-a-half years of use before the battery holds noticeably less charge. The device body itself, the plastic housing, connectors and draw-activation sensor, is designed for long-term use and typically outlasts the battery lifespan if treated with normal care.
Keep the pod connection contacts clean by occasionally wiping with a dry tissue. Avoid dropping the device. Charge before the battery is completely flat rather than allowing full depletion. Store upright to prevent liquid from pooling in the connection point. Avoid leaving the device in direct sunlight or in very hot environments (gloveboxes in summer) as heat degrades lithium batteries faster.
