UK law regulates prefilled pod systems under the same framework as all vaping products
Prefilled pod systems are legal to buy, sell and use in the UK for adults aged 18 and over. They are regulated under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR), which sets standards for maximum nicotine concentration, pod capacity, ingredient safety, MHRA notification requirements and packaging. UK-legal prefilled pod systems sold by registered retailers must meet all these standards. The Lost Mary BM6000 and its pods are fully TRPR-compliant and MHRA-notified products.
The regulatory requirements
What UK Law Requires for Legal Prefilled Pod Systems
Pod Capacity Limit: 2ml Maximum
TRPR limits e-liquid containers to 2ml maximum in pod and tank formats. UK-legal BM6000 pods comply with this limit. This is why UK pod systems contain 2ml per pod rather than the larger capacities seen in products from unregulated markets.
Nicotine Concentration: 20mg/ml Maximum
UK law caps nicotine concentration at 20mg/ml for all e-liquid products including prefilled pods. UK BM6000 pods are available in 10mg and 20mg formulations, both within this limit. Products with higher concentrations, common in unregulated imports, are not legal for sale in the UK.
MHRA Product Notification
Before any vaping product can legally be placed on the UK market, the manufacturer must notify it to the MHRA with full ingredient, emissions and manufacturing data. BM6000 pods available from Touch of Vape are MHRA-notified products. Unnotified products, which may include grey market imports, are not legally compliant regardless of their physical similarity to compliant products.
Age Restriction: 18 and Over
All vaping products, including prefilled pod systems, may only be sold to persons aged 18 and over in the UK. Touch of Vape operates a strict Challenge 25 age verification policy in store and online. The age restriction applies equally to the device and to the replacement pods.
Banned Ingredients
TRPR prohibits certain ingredients in e-liquids including diacetyl, acetyl propionyl and colouring agents in nicotine-containing liquids. UK-compliant BM6000 pods do not contain these banned compounds. Unregulated products from outside the UK compliance framework may not make the same guarantees.
