How Responsible Coventry Vape Shops Decide What Products to Stock

How Responsible Coventry Vape Shops Choose What to Stock
Coventry Vaping Guides

Not every product that lands on our desk makes it to our shelves. Here is the honest process behind how we decide what Coventry customers will find in our store, and why that process matters more than most people realise.

Why this matters to you

Why the Products Your Vape Shop Stocks Actually Matter

The UK vaping market is well regulated compared to many countries but regulation alone does not guarantee that every product on every shelf is what it claims to be. Counterfeit and non-compliant products do exist in the market and they reach consumers through retailers who either don't check or don't care.

As a Coventry vape shop, our reputation is built entirely on the trust of local customers who come back to us week after week. That trust depends on us knowing exactly what we're selling and being confident enough in every product to put our name behind it. This article explains how we make those decisions and what it means for you as a customer.

"If we wouldn't recommend it to a family member, it doesn't go on the shelf. That is genuinely the standard we apply."

Our selection process

The Six-Step Process We Apply to Every New Product

1

MHRA Notification Check

Every e-liquid and vaping product sold in the UK must be notified to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency before it can legally be placed on sale. This notification process requires manufacturers to submit ingredient lists, technical specifications and safety assessments. Our first check on any new product is to verify its MHRA notification status. If it isn't notified, it doesn't come into our Coventry store regardless of how popular it might be elsewhere.

2

Supplier and Brand Due Diligence

We only work with suppliers and brands that have a demonstrable track record in the UK market. We look at how long they've been operating, whether they have faced regulatory action or product recalls, and how they respond when problems arise. A brand that handles a product issue transparently earns more of our trust than one with a perfect record that has never been tested. We want partners who take compliance as seriously as we do.

3

Packaging and Labelling Review

UK regulations require specific health warnings, nicotine content labelling, child-resistant closures and a range of other packaging requirements. We inspect the packaging of every new product before it goes on sale. Products that don't meet the labelling requirements don't make the cut, even if the liquid itself may be compliant. Proper labelling is not just a legal obligation. It is a signal that the manufacturer takes their responsibilities seriously from the ground up.

4

In-Store Testing by Our Team

Our staff try new products before they go on sale. This is how we assess whether a device performs consistently, whether the flavour quality matches what is described and whether there are any practical issues that would affect a customer's experience. We have turned down products at this stage that passed every regulatory check because they simply didn't perform to a standard we'd be happy recommending. Compliance is the minimum bar. Quality is the actual bar.

5

Customer Feedback and Demand Signals

We pay close attention to what Coventry customers are asking for, what they come back to buy again and what they report problems with. New products from established brands that our customers have specifically requested get prioritised. Products that generate complaints, even minor ones, are reviewed quickly. The shop floor in Coventry is our most reliable source of real-world product data and we take it seriously.

6

Ongoing Monitoring After Launch

Our responsibility doesn't end when a product goes on the shelf. We monitor MHRA recalls and safety notices, track any reports of product failures or safety incidents in the broader industry and review our own in-store complaint data on a rolling basis. A product that develops a known issue gets pulled from our shelves immediately, not when we run out of stock. We would rather lose a sale than sell something we have concerns about.

What we say no to

The Products We Decline and Why

Saying no to products is a regular part of running a responsible vape shop in Coventry. We are approached regularly by suppliers offering products that we turn down. The reasons vary.

01

Non-MHRA-notified liquids

The most straightforward refusal. If a liquid hasn't gone through the MHRA notification process, it cannot legally be sold in the UK and we won't stock it under any circumstances, regardless of claimed quality or pricing advantage.

02

Products with known safety incidents

If a device has a documented history of battery failures, coil issues or other safety problems in the wider market, we won't stock it. The fact that it is technically compliant does not override a pattern of real-world safety concerns.

03

Suppliers without transparent ingredient data

Some manufacturers are reluctant to provide full ingredient transparency to retailers. We take this as a red flag. Our customers have a right to know what is in the products they buy from us and we need to be able to answer those questions confidently.

04

Products marketed in ways that target young people

We take our responsibilities around youth access extremely seriously. We decline to stock products whose packaging, naming or marketing appears designed to appeal to under-18s, regardless of the underlying product quality.
